Recently my hummingbird illustration has gained a lot of popularity as a tattoo design. I feel so honored that so many people would chose my work to permanently put on their bodies. I’ve always been interested in tattoo design and have designed one of the tattoos that I have. This hummingbird image was originally made as a pendant design. I’m excited at the possibilities of expanding on this style or others geared towards tattoo design.
Do you ever feel restless? I get in these moods. They come and go, but mostly come, where I feel like I can’t sit still. Everything normal bores me. I’ll try to read but the story isn’t moving fast enough. I try and watch a show or a movie and the plot isn’t perfect. So instead of wasting this energy I try to create with it. So that is precisely what I have been doing for the last few days. I’ve been busy making all of my Christmas presents this year (which I will post pictures after they have been received) as well as some other fun projects. One of which is going to be a series of paintings based on princesses and female characters from famous stories.
Yay! I’m so happy…after wanting to move back to New York for years, it’s finally happened. I was so excited to decorate my new room. It’s not finished yet, I want to hang some of my art above my bed, put more art in the frames, and paint the red cabinet thingy green. I love green! I’m also loving my nightstand that I made from an old chair that was missing it’s leg. I got it at Ikea for $2 or something, painted it black, put some decorate L-bracket things under it, and wallah!
Moving was such a nice fresh start.
I just got back from visiting my dad in Costa Rica! He is starting up a detox retreat http://costaricajungleretreats.com/. It was beautiful!! You can just walk out on the porch and see howler monkeys, toucans, butterflies, frogs, leaf cutter ants…and all sorts of wonderful jungle scenery. While I was there I went swimming in the Pacific, dancing all night, horseback riding, zip-lining, hiking, did a Britt coffee tour, did 4 hours of yoga on a platform overlooking a gorgeous valley, and many other wonderful, new, exciting, and adventurous things! What a good trip. :)
I’ve just finished my first batch of art pendants. :) They all were made with jewelers grade resin over top of prints of my art. They are original, fun, whimsical, and girly. Click on the picture to go to my etsy site where you can buy one…or more! :P
Today I went to the Ringling Madeby gallery (http://www.madebygallery.com/) and submitted these two pieces. Go and check them out as well as the other awesome stuff in there if your in the area. Do it. :P
This was a sculpture I did about 6 or 7 years ago. I recently remembered just how much I loved working with stone. After I move and get all settled I’m definitely going to try my hand at it again.
I’m doing my part to try to bring about the popularity of spats again. They are soooo cute! How can you resist?
This was the second pair that I’ve made. I’m no seamstress but I have fun dabbling in it anyway.
